Grand Theft Auto V is an open world adventure game by Rockstar Games. It is the fifth installment in the series. The game has a story mode, online mode, and director's mode and can be played in both first and third person views. Which, is pretty cool. In the online mode you can play both single and multiplayer.
The game focuses on three career criminals, Michael Townley (De Santa), Trevor Philips, Franklin Clinton as they participate in heists and other not so legal activities. Michael is a former bank robber who now has a pretty sweet deal with the FIB that allows him to live the lavish lifestyle he does. Franklin is an ex- gangster who occasionally, gets sucked back in by his annoying cousin Lamar. He's my personal favorite of the three. Trevor is Michael's old best friend and ex co-conspirator. He's sleazy, redneck, and a total drunk. But, his cut scenes are pretty humerus! Any time you switch over to him you are sure to find him doing something crazy.
There's a ton of other characters introduced but aside from the main protagonists, we get to see Michael's family and home life. Poor guy. His wife Amanda is, for lack of a better word, a cunt. His son Jimmy is pretty much a loser. He sits at home all day getting high and playing video games. But also gets himself into trouble and his dad has to bail him out a few times. You see him most in the game. Tracey, Michael's daughter is incredibly annoying. Even her voice irks me. She's basically just the typical spoiled teenage daughter.
Easily the best part of this game is the things it allows the player to do in this open world. You can explore all of Los Santos (Based on Los Angeles, California) and it's surrounding areas. If you just feel like taking a joy ride around the map, you can do that. You even have a huge selection of cars to choose from. If you prefer to fly, there's planes and helicopters you can fly. And if you're a water person, you can jump on a jet ski or sail various boats.
But if you don't want to just drive or do missions, there's still plenty you can do. You can take a ride on the ferris wheel, get tattoos, hunt, play tennis, see movies, and walk around the boardwalk. Heck, you can even do yoga. So you can sit on your behind at home and do yoga on a video game. Imagine that! But if you love those crazy things from the past games, those are there too. You can most definitely go on rampages through the city, rob places and people, and indulge in many sexual escapades. If that's your kind of thing haha. And if you feel like going on a scavenger hunt or two, there's spaceship parts and letter scraps spread out all over for you to collect. It's actually really fun. Oh and did I mention there's a ghost you can spot in a certain area at a certain time of day?
In online mode you can create your own character and participate in missons as well. I always have fun with it. Some missions are best with more players though, so at times you may want to play multiplayer. The only real downfall to this is that other players on there love to kill you any chance they can. You can even buy your own cars and a home for your character.
My overall thoughts on GTA V is that it is a super fun and beautifully made game. The scenery is incredible and realistic. At times i feel like i'm really in these places and not playing a game. It's captivating! The missions are intense and fun. There's tons of weapons to choose from and clothing options. I enjoy the all the races you can do for some extra cash. Liveinvader is just hilarious to me. Banking through the internet is a real time saver (and a great way not to lose your money). And taking photos (or selfies) with your cell phone is great. Like I said, it's a very realistic game and it's so much fun to play.
I give GTA V 5/5 Stars.
