🎃 Top 10 TV Shows To Watch in October 🎃

KatMarie

Or anytime you are feeling extra spooky. These are some of my personal favorites. My list will not look the same as everyone else's. Mostly. I like a little variety and I LOVE the classics!

1. The Twilight Zone It honestly doesn't get any better than this. Ever. The Twilight Zone is next level creepy (and a blast to watch). Nothing is scarier than real world issues and things and people. Plus, the look and atmosphere of this show is just amazing. I cannot forget to say that Rod Sterling is a gem!

2. The Munsters / The Addama Family I grouped these two together because in many ways, they're one and the same. I grew up watching these and I always really enjoyed them. While the movies made everyone obsess over Nu-Wednesday, I was still stuck on the old show. Carolyn Jones' Morticia was my idol and still very much is. As I grew up, I fell in love with Lily Munster as well. These shows will forever hold a special place in my heart and be something I watch not only when I am feeling spooky, but when I need a good laugh or have those nostalgic moments.

3. Goosebumps I'm a 90's kid, this was the stuff back then. I read (and obsessed over) the books and I loved the show. Most would probably put Are You Afraid of the Dark on their list but that just wasn't something I got into or saw much of. I will definitely do so at some point to see what all the rage is about, though. But I am certain that this will still be my choice. It's what I grew up on and what I loved. And you bet your bottom dollar that at some point, i'll have every one of the books in my collection again!

4. The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror I know, I know...This isn't actually a show. It's more of a special. But, there's enough episodes of it that it could be enough for a season or two. And it's annual. So, i'm putting it on my list anyways! These are great. It's always fun to see what Homer and the gang will get into next and how they will retell horror classic tales. Still to this day, my favorite is their telling of The Raven.

5. Stranger Things This show is great for that classic 80's feel. It's got bizarre and unusual concepts and like-able characters. Actually, they're love-able. It's perfect for this time of year, or any time really. I guess that's why it usually hits Netflix in October.

6. Slasher (S1 only) I say season one only because it had a better story to me. I have to finish up s2 but even where I am now, I feel that I still love the first one better. It gives me Halloween, Silence of the Lambs and some other vibe that I can't quite pinpoint. Plus, the original part of the story takes place on Halloween night. This show/season is so underrated, in my opinion. Give it a watch!

7. The Walking Dead / Fear The Walking Dead

Let me first say that i have not once found a season to be "bad" or "weak" like most people say. I have loved them all. I love the baddies and I love the good guys, too. Negan is top notch. JDM does amazing work with the character. Daryl is awesome, but you knew that by now. Rick is great. And the rest are great. And what I love most about this show isn't the gore, the walkers, or even the characters themselves. I love that all of these seasons and episodes in we are still unsure of exactly who the "walking dead" are. Is it the "zombies"? Is it the people, doomed to a life looking over their shoulders and the inevitable? We may never know. I love it! And I even like that the show isn't all zombies and gore all the time. As awesome as that stuff is, I love seeing them trying to survive and make communities. I love seeing how humans can be even scarier when they are without order. FTWD is a pretty strong show as well. Same premise. I really began to love it in season two.

8. American Horror Story With each new season comes all new characters, stories, and strangeness that you'll love. Some more than others, obviously. But I still stand by telling anyone and everyone who loves horror to watch it. All of it. Often times I felt I wasn't liking seasons I stuck it out until the end and realized how wrong I was. They either grew on me or I began to truly appreciate and understand the stories and characters. Murder House was my favorite. I don't think any season will top it in my eyes. Roanoke was the weakest. But even still, I didn't find it to be absolutely terrible. You'll grow to love many of the faces as you see them play all sorts of characters throughout the series. And even when some are replaced, you'll find appreciation for the new faces.

9. Scream (S1 mostly) Again, I prefer season one exclusively. It tells a pretty complete story so you really don't even have to watch season two. It was weaker and just made no sense. Season one was thrilling and well acted (in my opinion). I loved all of the callbacks to the original movies and all of the other horror references in it. I loved the characters and well, really everything about it. This time of year is a great time to watch it. It's fairly short, too.

10. Buffy The Vampire Slayer What can i say about this one that hasn't already been said? It's perfect. Especially if you're a lover of all things vampire and 90's (like me). If you haven;t watched it yet, shame on you! Haha

( Honorable Mentions: The Haunting of Hill House, True Blood, Bates Motel, & Ash Vs Evil Dead )

This is in no way the order of which I like them best. It's just how I rank them based on my desire to watch them this time of year. If I were doing it the other way around, Buffy would be number one for sure
